Sacred Heart Academy celebrated the Enthronement Mass this past Friday, October 3rd as part of its long standing annual tradition. The Enthronement Mass has been a part of Sacred Heart Academy, and part of the SHA legacy for many years, and a tradition of which many alumnae hold close to their hearts. The Enthronement Liturgy is a mass of which the Sacred Heart of Jesus statue is commemorated and blessed, as symbol for His everlasting love for us and protection over the SHA community.
Leading up to the day of the Enthronement, the Campus Ministry team as well as the Enthronement Court worked hard in order to create educational videos about the Enthronement in order for SHA students to understand what it truly means. These videos were aired over a series of three days, each going into more detail about the enthronement and how it affects not only the young ladies in the court, but also the freshmen who are witnessing the Enthronement ceremony for the first time.
Possibly the most known aspect of the Enthronement Liturgy is the voting and designation of the Enthronement Court. Twelve senior students are chosen in order to represent Sacred Heart Academy during the mass and offer red roses before the statue as ways of bringing our intention before everyone during the Mass. These girls are chosen by both the senior class and faculty, as embodiments of the Sacred Heart Academy core values as well as people who spread God’s love to all those around them. This year’s enthronement court consisted of, Addyson Errico, Mei Mei Shannon, Gianna Tolomeo, Evangeline Hegan, Katherine Kile, Katelyn Rae, Olivia Pirolo, Lucia Sheehan, Gabrielle Andrioli, Kiera Barney, Meghan Keeney as the crown bearer, and Litzy Herrera-Silva as the one who crowned Jesus. These brilliant young women did a tremendous job of carrying on the long-standing SHA tradition in a beautiful mass.
