SHA is a place of balance. At SHA students do many things well, but what they do best is, “Work hard and play hard.” SHA truly is the best place to form yourself both inside and outside of the classroom.
One way in which many students involve themselves at SHA outside of the classroom would be through sports. During the Fall SHA offers 5 sports, those being Volleyball, Soccer, Field Hockey, Cross Country, and Swim and Dive.
This year all the teams are off to a strong start. The Volleyball team is currently undefeated with a 9-0 record. One of their most thrilling games was a 3-2 win against Cheshire, where they came back to win the 15-point ending set.
The Soccer team is currently 7-3 so far. The team has shown great teamwork through getting through tough games like Cheshire, Jonathan Law, and Marcy.
The Field Hockey team is currently 2-5-2. The team has shown improvement through tying in their game against North Branford, one of their toughest opponents.
The Cross Country team is currently 8-3 in the regular season and 22-8 in invitationals. At the Connecticut River Valley Invitational SHA placed very well. Out of 95 runners Mackenzie Spooner ‘26 came in 5th running a 19:37, Sally Banks ‘28 came in 18th running a 20:53, and Willa Krishnaswami ‘28 came in 20th running a 20:59.
The Swim and Dive team is currently 1-2 and had an amazing meet against West Haven. During their meet against West Haven the team was down by 1 point before the final event and ended up placing first in the final event to secure the win.
SHA showed it support and promoted all the student–athletes through the Fall Sports Tailgate on Monday, September 15, 2025. The tailgate was a great way for the student-athletes to showcase their skills and talents and for the student body to support their peers. Great job and good luck to all the fall sports with the rest of their season. Roll SHARKS!
