Spirit week at Sacred Heart Academy is one of the events that all the students look forward to every year. It is so much fun to show school spirit and dress up according to all the funny themes. Spirit week is a week of activities that really brings our school together and shows that we can work super hard and achieve excellence academically, while also having a lot of fun together and embracing the spirit of SHA.
We started off spirit week on Tuesday with the dress your age theme. Students dressed in everything from baby onesies to old grandma outfits with canes and grey wigs. The winners of the costume award were the juniors they dressed as businessmen, as they were middle aged. The activity Tuesday was hungry hungry humans. It was filled with excitement, fun, and chaos. The first few rounds started off smoothly and the seniors were the winners of the activity overall. Then, the last round of the game students lost control, bumping and crashing into each other to fight to the balloons. Although chaotic it was still so much fun!
Wednesday the costume theme was celebrities. The freshmen were Adam Sandler, the sophomores were Jojo Siwa, the juniors were Kardashians, and the seniors were Abby Lee Miller. The overall winners for the costumes were the sophomores with Jojo Siwa they all looked amazing with their collective bows and colorful outfits. The activity for Wednesday was Riff Off, each grade had to come up with as many songs as possible with the word given in it. The seniors ended up taking the win, as they didn’t repeat any songs or hesitate. Riff off is always such a fun activity and a personal favorite.
Thursday was chalk day, and the theme was frat v sorority girls. The freshmen and sophomores were sorority girls, and the juniors and seniors were frat brothers. The frat brothers really embraced their character with fake frat tattoos, fake frat parties at break and lunch, and even searched for the sorority girls to throw a conjoined party. The freshmen ended up taking the win with the costumes as they all collectively took on the sorority girl theme.
Lastly, Friday where the theme was states and the activity was dance crew. The freshmen were Vegas, sophomores Texas, juniors California, and seniors New York. Dance crew day is always such a special day of spirit week. Each grade puts in an immense amount of effort to put together a 5-7 minute production. Every grade always goes above and beyond to put on an amazing dance crew. It is so special to see girls who don’t even have dance experience want to get involved and show their school spirit. The seniors ended up winning dance crew with their New York themed dance!
Spirit week is one of the highlights of my time here at SHA every year and something I, along with many of my fellow students look forward to. Everyone really comes together as a SHA community to have fun and show school spirit!
