Rock of Ages: Another Successful SHA Musical

Rock+of+Ages%3A+Another+Successful+SHA+Musical

This fall at Sacred Heart Academy, our girls put on another wonderful musical. This year’s musical was Rock of Ages, which is a jukebox musical following the story of a young girl pursuing her dreams in a world of rock and roll. Following the success of the show, we asked the featured dancer, Elizabeth Blair, about her experience this year.

Interviewer: “Liz why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself and your time in SHA Musicals.”

Liz: “I have been dancing since I was four, but I recently started working with SHA musical during my sophomore year. These past two years that I have been performing in SHA musicals have helped me grow as a dancer, performer, and singer.”

Interviewer: “That’s Great, can you tell us a favorite memory of yours from this past production?”

Liz: “One of my favorite memories from Rock of Ages was the family dinner at the Shubert and the final show with the seniors. It was special to me because I knew that this would be my last performance with them, and they were leaving big shoes to fill.”

Interviewer: “So Let’s hear more about the play, once was your favorite song to dance to in Rock of Ages?”

Liz: “My favorite number in the show was Every Rose Has it’s Thorn. It was a beautiful lyrical performance with a great song and great dancers. The leading Vocalists killed the song and brought this performance to life.”

Interviewer: “Now that the fall musical has come to an end, what can we expect from our Sacred Heart Drama Department?”

Liz: “This Spring our Drama Guild will be performing an all-female rendition of Lord of the Flies. Both to the SHA community and the Connecticut Drama Association Festival.”

Interviewer: “Thank you for your great answers, Liz. We have one last question for you. What do you think will be SHA’s 2024 fall musical?”

Liz: “Mine two guesses are Anastasia and Nine to five, but like everyone else, I will have to wait and see what Mrs. Delaney has in store!”

The Sacred Heart Drama Department will be heading to the Connecticut Drama Association Festival on March Ninth and will hold two performances both at SHA on March 15th. They hope to see you there and love all of your support.
