It’s About Time

Feeling overwhelmed with school? No time for friends and family? Well time management can be difficult for some of our students here at SHA. People are often up ‘till midnight working on assignments because they had prior obligations to attend to. Well, if you want to know how to manage your time efficiently, you have come to the right place!  We’ve put together some tips from our own experiences as well as experts to help you with managing your time better!

Tips & Tricks-

  • Wednesday is GET IT DONE day- This free day should not be wasted! It helps you get caught up on work, but we know how tempting it is to just sit around and binge watch Netflix that day! However, with this extra day you can work from 9:00am– 5:00pm (with 20-minute breaks in between) and get all your work done! You can even reach out to teachers for help on what you don’t understand!
  • Set a limit for yourself- Setting times for starting and finishing your work could help you be much more productive and sets a time for you to look forward to! We recommend 2:10pm-7:00pm (with breaks in between) as ideal homework times on schooldays!
  • Take breaks in between- We ALL need to take breaks in order to refresh our brains. I know that this is a must have for us! Iwe don’t, then everything we do gets done at a slower pace.
  • Prioritize– What we mean by this is that if your Science, Language, and History homework are due tomorrow, and your Math, English, and Theology homework are due the day after, do tomorrows homework first!!
  • Take advantage of your Study- Study is 80 minutes that can be put to use! If you have a plan on what exactly you are going to get done, you can do it!! Bringing in headphones with music to Study can get your brain in the right frame needed to tackle those assignments!
  • Sleep! – Everyone knows it is hard to get to sleep when your favorite show just left off on a cliffhanger, but you must put Netflix down!! Brown University(1) study stated that sleep deprivation causes a decrease in academic performance. So, as tempting as it is, like that post tomorrow and get some sleep!!

Time management is an important part of being a student and will make you better prepared for college! Following just a few of our tips can help you get on the road to better grades, less stress, and more “me time”! Give it a shot!
